Two new games: Word rain and One of a clue
Two new games arrive. Word rain is an arcade game to play alone, with a daily rain that is the same for everyone, or together in rooms. One of a clue is a team game for rooms, where a one-word clue has to be enough.
Type the words before they land.
Word rain
- Words fall from the top: type the one you see and press Send before it lands, with your phone's keyboard or your computer's.
- You have 3 lives. Every word that lands costs one, and the words right behind it break without costing more. The rain speeds up and brings longer words until your lives run out.
- Every word is worth 10 points per letter, up to double with a streak of words taken in a row; a word that lands resets the streak.
- Every day there is a rain that is the same for everyone, with one official attempt from a phone and one from a computer, and free play whenever you like.
- Phones and computers have separate leaderboards, with a view that puts them together.
- A game with 10 words taken counts for the Season's PUZZLE mark. The words are not sent to LexiMint.
- The words come from two hand-picked lists, Italian and English. You can play without an account too, with your record on the device and no leaderboard.
Word rain in rooms
- Race: the same rain for everyone, each on their own field with their own lives; the most points win.
- Co-op: lives shared by the whole team, and a word of 7 letters or more saves a teammate by clearing the word closest to the ground on their field.
- Last one standing: a faster rain, the last one left wins. With attacks on, a word of 7 letters or more sends an extra word to an opponent.
- Arena and Team arena: up to 6 players on the same field. Whoever types a word first takes it, and in the team the points belong to everyone.
- While you play, the strip at the top shows every player and the one ahead of you. On the shared field you see where the others are typing: their cannon turns and their letters light up.
- From 2 to 30 players on separate fields, up to 6 on the shared field. As in every room, the score stays in the match.
Identical clues cancel each other.
One of a clue
- One player guesses a secret word they cannot see and everyone else helps with a one-word clue. Identical clues cancel each other before the guesser reads them, so the team needs original clues.
- 3 to 30 players, guests included: create a room from Play together and choose One of a clue.
- Each word, the clue writers see the secret word and send a single clue, one word made only of letters, proper nouns included.
- Identical clues and clues equal to the secret word cancel themselves. Variants, such as a plural or a translation, can be challenged and the table votes "Counts" or "Doesn't count", with the last call of Names, places and things.
- The guesser sees the remaining clues without their authors and how many were cancelled, then has one answer or can pass.
- In the lobby you choose how many words to play, from 3 to 30, and how much time clues and answers get. The guesser changes with every word, or is always the room's host.
- Every guessed word counts for the whole team. At the end you get a verdict on the result, the clues each player kept and a recap of the words played.
- The secret words come from two independent hand-picked lists, Italian and English, and never repeat in the same room, rematches included.
- As in every room, the score stays in the match: no tickets, XP, INK, FOIL or PUZZLE progress.
Also new
- Word snake in rooms: on phones the strip under the field shows every player, a swipe away, each with the word they are collecting.
- Rooms: to change game or mode, you choose the game first and then one of its modes.
- Simpler invitations: room links are short and easy to share again. The referral of whoever created the room is still recognised when the host changes, and links already shared keep working.
- Names, places and things: the vote on challenged answers becomes "Counts" or "Doesn't count", on one row, with the outcome in green or red. Tap your vote again to remove it, and the author of an answer removes it with "Doesn't count".
- Names, places and things: during STOP and the last call, the round header stays readable in dark themes too.
- Game leaderboards: in the leaderboard window of Word snake, Hidden phrase and Word trail you switch language and browse past days without leaving it. In Word trail you move between Classic and Cascade, and Word snake also ranks each day besides all time.
- Sending words to LexiMint: when you send several words at once, the button fills as they go, counts the words sent and the seconds left, and each word that arrives is marked right away.
