Glow up
Season 3 opens on Wednesday 4 November, and it is called Glow up for a reason. It is the biggest update since LexiMint began: your profile becomes truly yours, a new game arrives to play every day and the home has been rebuilt from scratch. Today's update brings the main novelties you can see; everything else switches on when the season starts, on Wednesday 4 November.
Portraits, frames, banners, badges, cursors and card backs, all new.
Your profile, the way you want it
Until now, cosmetics only dressed tickets. Now they dress you too.
- Frame, banner, portrait, name effect: you pick them in the inventory and see them on your profile at once.
- Your name carries its effect in every leaderboard, in every room and on every ticket you minted.
- Badges are new: cosmetics you wear after your name, where everyone sees them. Some you buy, many you earn.
- You earn a badge for every MASTERY TRACK you take to the end and for some MASTERY LATENTs; others are exclusive badges tied to specific actions. You will spot them on profiles, and opening one tells you how to get it.
- The cursor. Yes, the cursor: on a computer you can use one of your own, with its own way of moving. The click effect shows on a phone too, under your finger.
- Your snake in Word snake and your cannon in Word rain have a skin. You change it from the inventory, from a game's start panel or from the room lobby, and the others see it.
- In rooms you can react: thumbs up, applause, laugh, wow, heart, anger. There are six free reactions, and you choose which ones to keep in the wheel. More reactions can be bought in the Shop.
- The base portrait is your initial. Photos taken from signing in with Google, Discord or GitHub are no longer used and are not saved.
- On a computer, hover over a name; on a phone, tap it: you see a preview of that person's profile, with level, leaderboard place and what they wear.
The Shop and the inventory, rebuilt
- The Shop is a real shop: discounted cosmetics in the window, then the catalog by type, and a single purchase window wherever you are.
- You pay in INK or in FOIL: you choose, no longer both.
- Colored cosmetics come in six fixed colors, always the same, and each color is bought on its own. Those for tickets have a seventh, which takes the ticket's color.
- If you already own a ticket cosmetic and want to put it on another ticket too, the extra copy costs a quarter of the price.
- Some ticket cosmetics have been redrawn.
- A lot of new ones arrive for Season 3, for tickets and for the profile.
- Some are exclusive and cannot be bought: they come with the pass, with the Season pack or as recognition.
- The week's window always has at least three discounted cosmetics, and the discount applies in both INK and FOIL.
- Themed kits are back: six cosmetics each, with an epic or mythic cosmetic at the centre.
- In the Shop you also find the stamina Refill.
- The inventory is your collection, with every cosmetic in view and a pocket for what you have to use.
The Season 3 LexiPass
- The pass page has been redesigned from scratch.
- At the end of the pass comes prestige: after the last level, every 5,000 XP is a prestige level, and each one gives a reward. For everyone: 1,000 INK per level and a Classic Pack every five. With premium, on top: special prizes in the first ten levels, exclusive cosmetics among them, then another 1,000 INK per level and a Special Pack every five.
- Rewards you have not claimed still reach you at the end of the season.
- Levels can no longer be skipped: you climb by playing.
Packs
- Classic Pack and Special Pack: they hold cosmetics from the catalog, and they open with an animation.
- The Daily Pack unlocks when you complete a game.
- The odds are public, season by season, on a page of their own.
Thanks to those who support LexiMint
LexiMint is made by one person. Anyone who wants to lend a hand finds a new page, «Thank you», with five levels: Friend, Fan, Champion, Hero and Legend. Each level includes the previous ones and adds exclusive cosmetics of the season and its badge. Those who support LexiMint keep all this alive, and find their name on that page, if they want.
Word solitaire
Each day brings a ladder of three levels, with the same hands for everyone.
The new game of the season. Each card carries a word and each category is a pile: put every word under its category and close all the categories before you run out of moves.
- You have five piles to work on and a deck you can turn as many times as you like. Moves have a limit: the solution plus a margin.
- Every day a ladder of three levels, each bigger than the last, with the same hands for everyone.
- Sunday is the Big day: the three hands are bigger.
- A card put in the wrong place goes back and costs you nothing.
- The day's leaderboard counts levels won, then attempts, then moves.
- The words of the levels won that day go out as submitted words, and the first level won counts for PUZZLE.
- You can play as a guest too, and your result follows you if you sign up afterwards.
- You can already try it today: games played before 4 November have their own daily board, but they don't count for the Season.
The new home
Quick access to missions, events, Bounty Hour and the LexiPass.
- The home fits on a single screen, on phone and computer: the word field always in view, the newest tickets of the Gallery appearing one at a time and, within reach, Packs, Inventory, Event and Bounty.
- You send a word and the home shows you at once what happened: minted, evolved, rejected, moved up a tier.
- Missions, event and Bounty Hour open from the home with a tap, without changing page.
- Stamina, INK and FOIL are always in the top bar, on a phone too. From stamina you buy a Refill.
- The account menu opens with a preview of your profile; on a phone, legal links, language and cookies are at the bottom of the menu.
- A live line says, without names, when someone starts or finishes a game.
- Between one season and the next, the home becomes a full-screen countdown.
The Season 3 rules
The whole game has been rebalanced for Season 3. Here is what changes, numbers included, even where they go down.
- Levels: the first ones cost much less (level 2 asks for 140 XP instead of 1,090, then it climbs slowly), the last ones more.
- Every day the first 1,000 XP count double, up to level 50. Missions already show the doubled XP.
- Every qualified daily puzzle gives 50 XP and 50 INK, and counts as an active day.
- MASTERY TRACKs no longer give XP: they give INK, FOIL and tickets.
- Stamina can no longer be bought with INK on the spot. In its place there is the Refill: +50 stamina for 300 INK, at most three a day, and the ones you keep do not expire.
- INK from tickets: each ticket gives a fixed amount, the same for every tier (verified DISCOVERY 25, MILESTONE 15, ECHO 10 per window, DAILY 8), up to 750 INK a day.
- Bounty Hour FOIL drops from 50 to 25. Bounty Hour and top rewards (WEEKLY SET DIAMOND, EVENT DIAMOND, DISCOVERY LEGENDARY) together give at most 400 FOIL per season; beyond that, packs arrive.
- Daily reward: day 3 gives a Refill, day 7 gives 500 INK and a Classic Pack (before, 700 INK and 5 FOIL). On days 14, 30 and 60 there are extra packs.
- The daily reward streak carries over from one season to the next, and you can skip one day in seven without losing it.
- PUZZLE: grades are earned with 3, 7, 17, 34 and 51 qualified days (before, 1, 3, 10, 21, 36). Word solitaire counts as a quick game.
- WEEKLY SET: a week that does not fit entirely in the season, like the first one (Wednesday to Sunday), asks for fewer days, in proportion to the days it has.
- CROWN: words count for at most a fifth of the goal per week, so what matters is playing the whole season, not filling it in a few days.
- ECHO and MILESTONE come only from verified words. ECHO only from words typed by hand, not from those of the games.
- To get a word verified, and for an ECHO RESONANT, only authors with a verified email count.
- Bounty Hour: four clues instead of three (tier with its season, last letter, length, first letter). The secret word is one that at least two people have already written, and only whoever types it by hand wins.
- Events: the community goal is built in four quarters, calculated on how many people actually play. Your tier depends on how many quarters you contributed to, and DIAMOND goes to the most active 5 percent. If the community beats the goal, at 125, 150 and 200 percent a pack arrives for everyone who took part.
- Missions: a weekly chain in five steps (from 50 to 260 words, INK and a Classic Pack at the end) and a season chain in twelve steps, ending with a Special Pack and an exclusive badge.
- RECRUITER: from this season only the first two tiers give FOIL; whoever reaches the end gets an exclusive badge.
New
- Five new FOIL packs in place of the previous four, with the euro equivalent next to each price.
- The Season pack: the pass, 1,000 FOIL, two exclusive cosmetics, a Classic Pack and a Special Pack.
- A ticket minted or evolved by the answers of a daily puzzle, including other players' evolved tickets, stays out of the Gallery until the puzzle's day closes. In the meantime only its owner sees it.
- A game's words keep being sent even if you leave the page, with a small indicator that tells you how it is going.
- If stamina is not enough for all of a game's words, the ones it can cover are sent.
- Impostor: the number of impostors adjusts by itself, 1 up to 8 players, 2 from 9, 3 from 13.
- The line of whoever minted a ticket shows their avatar, their name with its effect and their badges.
- Cloned ECHO tickets have a new look.
- Gifts from the staff: the staff can send you a gift with a message, such as INK, FOIL, stamina, cosmetics (exclusive ones too) or packs. It arrives with a notification and you find it on your account right away.
- If the payment for a purchase is refunded, a notification tells you.
- When you sign up with email there is an optional question: how did you find LexiMint?
- A notice offers you to update when the open page is older than the game's version.
- The feedback button can be hidden from the settings.
Improvements
- Notifications have been rewritten one by one, with the icon of their type and the content of what they carry.
- The effect on a ticket's text also applies to the word written below it.
- The window for dressing a ticket has been rebuilt.
- Games on a phone have a shorter page, with compact cards, and every game or room page opens with a single row of controls.
- Leaderboards with more numbers show them in aligned columns.
- The game guide follows the rules of the season you are looking at, with a table of values season by season.
- The terms now include the refund and dispute rules, and the privacy notice also points to Link's policy.
- On a phone every page starts at the same distance from the header, and on a computer the margins are symmetrical.
- One account per mailbox: addresses with «+something» or with Gmail's dots count as the same one.
Bug fixes
- Some secret achievements could not be earned: they now unlock as intended.
- A reported word does not mint or verify anything. If it is later recognized, the DISCOVERY goes to the first author, and we tell them.
- The gibberish filter lets real short words and words with many consonants in a row through; 119 words blocked by mistake are free again.
- Crossword: checking answers at the same moment as another player no longer reveals anything.
- Daily word: repeated attempts no longer count.
- On iPhone, cards that turn over no longer flicker.
Thanks
